The Gardens

George Taylor has been (and we hope will continue to be) one of our most enthusiastic Garden Competition supporters.  None of us on the Committee can remember him ever not taking the cup for either his front or back garden, but this year he was narrowly (very narrowly) beaten in both categories.  Still, at least it made the choice of Chairman's Award straight forward...

Here he his receiving the cup from Mayor John Cooke and Kenilworth in Bloom Chairman Bob Watson.

Barbara Sheppard holding the cup on behalf of a much larger group of volunteers who have transformed the garden behind St Nicholas Parochial Hall - Best in the Shops and Public Buildings category.

Carol and David Gent have worked hard to create a new Small Back Garden, and the results won them the prize for best in class.

Kenilworth Town Mayor, John Cooke, presenting the cup for best Frontage to David Wallin.

Alan Jones receiving the cup for best Licenses Premises garden, beating off strong challenges from The Royal Oak and The Clarendon Arms & Harringtons on the Hill.  Alan has just opened a new wine bar on The Square so we're hoping he will enter the competition twice next year!

John Mould has created a simply charming garden and well deserved the cup for best Large Back Garden.

Dave Shilton awarding the Dave Shilton cup to Clinton Primary School.  He also presented the small silver cup donated by Kenilworth Civic Society, to be held by the pupil or class that, in the school's opinion, contributed most to their success.

If you haven't seen your picture yet, don't worry.  All the other winners on the night are represented in the slide show above.  Congratulations to all.

Simon Cockell took the prize for best Large Front Garden.  He also won Gold for his back garden, and will open his gardens to public view next year on June 21 under the National Gardens Scheme.

Kenilworth in Bloom

2014 Competition

Wow!  What a success!

We got 60 entries in all this year, and thank you all again for entering.  It really makes it so worthwhile...

We awarded 37 Gold medal certificates, another record, so well done everybody.

We had a number of new class winners, sometimes ousting previous winners.  Full results on the right and pictures below.
